1999年成为"农产品储藏与加工"专发史受顶维千位宜约映业博士生导师。主要从事天然产物化学、药物化学、生物坚长化学、食品化学等方面的研究工作。

1、"生物药学"。主要从事天然活性成分的分离、提取、化学修饰;降糖、降血脂、减肥等活性成分及新化合物的结构鉴定及药理功能研究;药物资源的综合开发利用。

3、"药用资源综合开发利用"。主要从事保健食品、中兽药、饲料添加剂等开发及研究;农副产品的深加工及应用。

研究成果
①、黄连综合开发利用:主持"石柱黄连规范化种植基地及其SOP优化升级研究"(科技部支撑计划项目)、"黄连综合开发利用"(重庆市科委重大专项)、"黄连产业链项目策划"(重庆市发改委项目)、"黄连副产物开发利用"(重庆市民委专项)、"黄连总生物碱提取技术及中试"(石柱县重点项目)、"黄连降血脂新药"(重庆市卫生局重点项目)等项目11项;在黄连深加工关键技术、黄连副产物开发利用、黄连活性成分提取分离及结构修饰等方面,进行了系统的深入研究:已经申报技术发明专利18项,获得授权12项;发表相关学术论文近75篇,Sci收录22篇;"黄连综合开发利用"获得重庆市技术发明二等奖(2013);"黄连须(味连)中兽药材"新药(二类)获得临床批件(渝农医函[2012]7号);在黄连综合开发利用及深加工研发方面处于全国领先水平。
②、降血糖和降血脂新药研发:以植物提取物(尤其是黄连总生物碱)为原料,按照《药品注册管理办法》、《中药注册管理补充规定》和中药研究相关技术指导原则要求,本着"安全、有效、质量可控"的基本原则,开发的以黄连(总生物碱)为主要原料的降血糖医院制剂"平抑舒胶囊"获得批件(渝制20120009)、抗焦虑及促进睡眠中药新药1个,正在进行临床前研究。
③、"医药氨基酸生产"。生产的组氨酸盐酸盐,达到日本味之素质量标准,实现了年产组氨酸盐酸盐2吨以上。生产组氨酸盐酸盐的同时,联产精氨酸盐酸盐和精氨酸碱、赖氨酸系列、酪氨酸系列等。该项目已经实现工业化生产。并获得技术发明专利(专利号:01132740.5)。
④、辣椒综合开发利用(提取辣椒红色素、辣椒碱、辣椒渣利用)。帮助企业完成扩大生产规模的任务,全程参与全套工业生产和设计。将溶剂消耗减少四分之三,收率提高10%,产品质量显著提高(溶剂残留有300ppm降低到10ppm以下);开发了90%以上含量的辣椒碱产品和色价300以上的高纯度辣椒红色素产品。
